Cystic fibrosis

A portrait of Emily Schaller from Rock CF

Every day, people living with serious diseases strive to be more than their disease 鈥 to be defined by what they can dream and hope and achieve, not by what limits them. Our commitment to people with serious diseases is uncompromising and goes beyond our research and development (R&D) and medicines.

Our cystic fibrosis journey

Alongside the cystic fibrosis (CF) community, we have spent more than 20 years doing what was once thought impossible 鈥 discovering and developing medicines that target the underlying cause of this devastating disease.鈥疧ur success is a testament to our partnership with the CF community and the dedication of our team at Vertex.鈥

We've set a high bar, and we will continue to push ourselves to discover potential treatments that could work for all people living with CF.鈥疉s we continue our CF journey, we鈥檙e committed to expanding access to our existing medicines and researching a potential medicine for the approximately 5,000 people who do not produce the CFTR protein and remain ineligible for modulator therapy.听

Working with the cystic fibrosis community

We鈥檝e established programs,听and听we're proud to work with organizations that help people with cystic fibrosis (CF) live active, full lives.听

CF advocacy organizations

We love to show up and show our support for CF advocacy organizations. From sponsoring events to walking and running to raise awareness, we鈥檙e the team in purple.

Examples of organizations we support include:

Online classes (Brazil)

In partnership with Unidos pela Vida Institute, we organized CF Care Program, a series of online classes to provide the CF community and caregivers with information about the importance of physiotherapy, nutrition, mental health and physical activities as crucial parts of the management of CF.
